A friend's question.

Last week a friend came over and he looked at a stack of books I had sitting on my sideboard in the kitchen. "Do you think all this end of doula stuff is good for your own mental health?" he asked after reading the titles. I had to laugh at it as my stack looked a little morbid, but I assured him that my mental health did not suffer from reading about death, just the opposite; It seems that since I started this journey, I have this hunger to read more, discover more, explore more.

" Follow your curiosity" another friend told me "And it will lead to your passion!" so that's what I have been doing.

It has showed me that there are so many people out there do an awesome job when comes to the last chapters of our life (to stay in the book theme) Nurses, Cena's and other directly at the bedside. Fathers , mothers, brothers, sisters, children and other family members. Neighbours, friends. Church families, clergy, villages and communities.

Now that I am aware of the EOLD concept I see them everywhere, national news outlets and local papers. Books, podcasts, Facebook groups and other social media platforms. People and organizations who made it their mission to make every death the best death possible. But I also see many stories about people left out, lonely, scared and not supported. Stories of people who did not get their affaires in order, never made that last trip, got a change to meet up one more time. People whose death didn't reflect the way they lived and loved.

So for the time being I keep on reading, learning and talmking about end of life. And don't worry , as my picture shows , I have many other interests that I read about of hobbies to help take care or my own mental health Till next time, with love
